The legal limit for minimum depth of tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread all the way around the tyre.

The 'safe' time to change your tyre is when the tread depth reaches approximately 3mm - this tread depth still ofers a reasonable stopping distance in wet conditions over the minimum legal requirement.

Three penalty points plus £2,500 in fines per illegal tyre can be levied against you. For the sake of your license, your bank account and your safety check your tyres and have them replaced here as needed!
